Ilham Aliyev received the Ambassador of the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs for the Eastern Partnership

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Ambassador of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic for the Eastern Partnership Brice Roquefeuil.

Brice Roquefeuil said that France, as President of the European Union, fully supports the agenda for peace in the South Caucasus, as well as the initiatives of the European Union in various fields of relations with Azerbaijan.

During the conversation, they welcomed the successful development of relations between Azerbaijan and the European Union and recalled the participation of the President of Azerbaijan in the summit of the Eastern Partnership of the European Union in Brussels last December.

The parties discussed issues related to the post-conflict period, the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the conduct of negotiations on the preparation of a peace agreement and the delimitation of borders. Stressing that the Armenian side accepts the five principles proposed by Azerbaijan, the head of state noted that the Azerbaijani delegation is ready to start negotiations on a peace agreement.

During the conversation, they discussed the relations between Azerbaijan and France. President Ilham Aliyev highlighted his meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron in Brussels last December and February in video format. The Head of State also recalled having sent a letter of congratulations to Emmanuel Macron for his re-election as President of the French Republic.
