Kylian Mbappe’s assist to set up Lionel Messi’s Montpellier goal against PSG was so mean

Paris Saint Germain were in top form as they easily overcame Montpellier on Saturday night.

The French giants were without Neymar but still fielded two of their star players in Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe.

And the duo were well and truly in the mood as they led PSG to a convincing 4-0 win.

Messi, who hasn’t reached the heights expected of him this season, gave PSG a two-goal lead with an early brace.

Angel Di Maria made it 3-0, before Mbappe scored from the spot to complete the score.

The choice of goals was undoubtedly Messi’s second. It came after brilliant play from the Argentine and Mbappe.

Mbappe collected the ball on the left side.

The 23-year-old looked up and spotted Messi running towards the box.

The Frenchman picked off his teammate with a precise pass with the outside of his foot.

Messi then showed typical class as he effortlessly rounded the goalkeeper and put the ball into an empty net.

It was a really classy goal and you can see it below…

What purpose. That pass from Mbappe was just something else.

Messi still had some work to do but he managed to do justice to Mbappe’s pass.

The Argentine pointed the finger at Mbappe and then ran to celebrate with him just after hitting the back of the net.

PSG have just one game left in the campaign, when they host Metz at the Parc des Princes next Saturday.

This could well be Mbappe’s last game for the French giants.

His contract expires this summer and there are serious doubts that he will extend his stay.

It will be an almighty blow for the club if Mbappe chooses to leave.

He’s a superstar and it’s almost certain that he’ll win the Ballon d’Or at some point in his career.
