Silvan’s to move into former hair salon in Taunton
A STREET food business that has been serving customers from a retro van in Taunton since 2016 is to open a restaurant in the town.
Silvan’s is looking to open in a former hair salon in the High Street this summer.
The owners are working to prepare the kitchen after finding “many obstacles”.
Silvan’s has been offering one-stop Mediterranean and Middle Eastern street food for six years.
A spokesperson posted on Facebook: “Many of you have been asking about the new location and so here is an update.
“We are trying to transform the kitchen.
“With the huge task of converting a living room into a restaurant, we encountered many obstacles, but we hope to be ready in two months.
“We will go for a full Silvan feel, with traditional Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine – more extensive than what we currently offer.
“We are very excited and can’t wait for him to be ready.”
The family business – described as ‘East meets West’ – is run from a Fore Street sidewalk by a partner born and raised in the West Country and another born and raised in Turkey’s Kurdish east.
