Thousands donated to Tom Parker fundraiser set up by widow to keep memory alive

Thousands of pounds in donations poured into a fundraiser organized by The Wanted star’s widow, Tom Parker, in just 12 hours. Kelsey Parker set up the GoFundMe page on Saturday for people to “keep Tom’s memory alive forever” via donations to charitable causes instead of sending flowers and cards.

Ms Parker included a moving message of thanks to those who have shared “beautiful messages of hope and condolences” since the singer’s death at 33, and said the fundraiser was to “take the incredible love , support and generosity from everyone and turn our grief into something positive.” The page has exceeded its £5,000 target in the first 12 hours, with over £10,000 raised so far.

Writing on the fundraising page, Ms Parker said: ‘I am Kelsey Parker, very proud wife of Tom Parker, probably best known as one fifth of British boy band The Wanted, but to those who knew him he was my husband, a dad, son, brother and friend. Our hearts are truly broken, Tom was the center of our world and we can’t imagine life without him, but one of the greatest sources of comfort over the past two years has been the outpouring of love and support that we have all received.

“We can’t thank everyone enough for holding Tom, myself and the children in your thoughts and prayers, for lighting candles and for sharing beautiful messages of hope and condolences. We want to take everyone’s incredible love, support and generosity and turn our grief into something positive and keep Tom’s memory alive forever.

“We politely request that in lieu of gifts and flowers, donations be made to this GoFundMe account, with all proceeds eventually going to amazing causes in Tom’s name, to help those in need. We wouldn’t just couldn’t get through the past two years without the help and support we’ve received and if we can offer it to others it would be the best way to honor Tom and make our two children, Aurelia, proud and Bodhi.

“From the bottom of my heart, a huge thank you. If love alone could have saved Tom, he would have lived forever.

Parker was diagnosed with a brain tumor in October 2020 and passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on March 30 this year. His widow also shared a photo of their family on the fundraising page, including their two young children, and professional photos of Parker and his bandmates.

They had been married since 2018 and welcomed their son, Bodhi, in October last year. Their daughter, Aurelia Rose, was born in 2019.
