Toimy Son earned himself and his many supporters a trip to Royal Ascot as he came back at a good pace to race down Txope in the Listed Prix du Pont Neuf.

Very proven at two years old, the Twilight Son colt took a step forward on his return to Saint-Cloud and seems to be a specialist in the seven stages.

Coach Yann Barberot walked away with a precious All-Weather Championships win at Newcastle last month and now has an even bigger prize in his sights.

“We’ll be aiming for him in the Jersey Stakes,” Barberot said. “There aren’t too many options on this trip unless we want to race older horses.

“It is effective over 1,600 meters [a mile] but is built like a speed horse, small and strong. Maybe a bit lacking in size for a miler.”

Grand Glory went on to repay her new owner’s decision to keep her in training at the age of six with an authoritative performance in the Group 3 Prix Allez France, pulling an easy three-and-a-half-length lead. on Burgarita under Cristian Demuro.

Coach Gianluca Bietolini was in no rush to name any future targets but is clearly relishing every unexpected moment he enjoys with his stable star.

“Everything has gone really well this season and she’s shown us all the signs that she’s ready to go again,” Bietolini said. “We were a bit worried that today would turn into a false race and luckily the two German fillies set the pace.

“Cristian sat behind Monsieur Fabre’s horse [Burgarita] and it worked very well.”

Stéphane Wattel already has a major date to look forward to when Rosacea takes place in the Poule d’Essai des Pouliches in a fortnight and he could have big days ahead of him to remain in competition after The Good Man made his first attempt at a little less than two thousand winners in Group 3 Prix de Barbeville, taking the best of Bubble Smart and Joie De Soir.
